Marcello Fantoni

Marcello Fantoni (Florence, 1915-2011), founder of the Fantoni Ceramic Studio in the stables of Villa Fabbricotti and, in 1970, of the International School of Ceramics in Via Bolognese (where he worked and taught) exhibited his sculptural and vascular works in major museums around the world, from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, to the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo.
Pupil, among others, of Libero Andreotti, Bruno Innocenti and Gianni Vagnetti, Fantoni combined the design of contemporary art with the Etruscan and Apulian style. In his works, he preserved the old flavor of metals, ceramics and ancient Etruscan pottery, making them actual through warm, bright and uniform color, modern materials and glaze.
